Prince Peregrine. A lantern, a little knight's costume, a notebook, a piece of string, and the calmest head in the village.
“We start with the one that doesn’t fit.”
At five to midnight, the Royal Baker locked the Royal Candy Vault with his own key. At midnight, he opened it again. Every shelf was bare. And the only witness was a bat who refused to answer questions.
I'm your host, Nicolas, the Wandering Prince. Tonight, the whole village is a crime scene, and you are the investigator. Meet the players, read the case file, listen to the rumours, then keep your guess close. On Halloween night we'll see who was right.
“All gone, you say? Then we must find out what happened.”
“If I were the thief, you wouldn’t have a clue to follow.”
Prince Peregrine. A lantern, a little knight's costume, a notebook, a piece of string, and the calmest head in the village.
“We start with the one that doesn’t fit.”
A small bat with a large opinion about everything. Including you. Sleeps in the vault rafters.
“I sleep here. Nobody came in.”
He baked every treat in that vault, locked it with his own key, and hasn’t stopped shouting since.
“Halloween is ruined!”
Rehearsing his festival speech under the bunting. He would like everyone to stay calm.
“Nobody panic.”
The twins. Home together all night. Or so they say.
“We heard nothing. We were home. Both of us.”
Keeps watch over the pumpkin field and lets no one pass without a proper Halloween joke.
A joke, or you don’t pass.
Unbothered by the vault. Deeply bothered by the menu. He has just one question.
“Seriously? Where is the chicken?”
The investigator. Look carefully, question everything, and leave room to be surprised.
Open the case file ↓Some clues are true. Some only look true. Write down what you know, and what you are only guessing.
11:55: the Baker locks a full vault. The clock tower strikes. 12:00: he opens it again. Every shelf is bare.
Who could empty every shelf in five minutes?
By Perry’s lantern, the Royal seal on the vault door is still unbroken. The Baker’s key never left his apron.
If no one came through the door… how did the treats leave?
Across the empty vault floor, a thin trail of purple glitter. It leads away from the bare shelves.
Where does the glitter lead?
Every shelf is bare, except for one thing left behind: a single violet bonbon. Nobody in the village knows what it is.
What is this mysterious bonbon? And why was it left behind?
Wisp was hanging upside down above the shelves the whole time. He says nobody came in. He also says he was asleep.
Can a sleeping witness be sure of anything?
From the village crossroads, one sign points to the Pumpkin Field, one to the Old Mill, one to the Whispering Woods. Only one is the real way the treats went.
Which path would you follow, and why?
Someone saw a light burning in the Old Mill at midnight. Nobody in the village admits to being there.
Why would anyone stop at the Old Mill?
Mayor Thistlewick says “Nobody panic.” Behind him, the whole village is panicking.
“I saw a light in the Old Mill at midnight.”
“We heard nothing. We were home. Both of us.”
“It was the bat. It’s always the bat.”
Each place hides one piece of evidence.
Where is the finale?
Pick your suspect and pin your theory to the village board. Everyone can read it straight away. Be kind, be clever, and no links.
